VAT Technology Consultant (London)

Our client is a high profile professional services firm with offices throughout the UK.

Due to the increasing importance of technology in VAT, including the HMRC Making Tax Digital initiative, we are searching for a technology focused individual to help drive the delivery of new VAT technology services to a range of organisations. The role will assist with developing new solutions and play a key part in growing our client's VAT Technology service.
You will have the chance to join a small and growing VAT Technology team focusing on data analytics as well as other technology related services to help organisation's meet their VAT compliance requirements both in the short term and also considering their needs and requirements in the longer term.

The VAT Technology team sits within the national VAT team and is also closely aligned with the TMC (Technology and Management Consulting) team. The TMC team is an award-winning NetSuite ERP implementation partner and has a sizeable NetSuite and Microsoft Dynamics ERP practice. The TMC team also includes a dedicated RPA (Robotic Process Automation) team which is another service that can be useful for larger, especially global, tax functions.
The VAT reporting landscape for businesses will look very different in the next 5-10 year period with a significant focus on data quality and an increase in transactional data reporting. This is a global trend with many real-time reporting requirements being introduced into European countries in the last few years as well as the UK’s Making Tax Digital initiative. Businesses will have to adapt with new processes and technologies being required to meet these new requirements.

A keen technology focus and interest in data along with relevant technology experience is more important than financial knowledge of VAT or accounting, however the opportunity to undertake training will be provided where relevant including the opportunity to study for externally recognised qualifications such as the ATT (Association of Taxation Technicians) qualification.
