We are partnering with a dynamic, multi-disciplinary engineering, environmental and construction services business to recruit a Director of Business Development to drive strategic growth across their New England market. This is a senior commercial leadership role focused on building new client relationships, opening new markets, developing strategic partnerships, and accelerating organic growth across a broad technical platform.
The successful candidate will bring strong business development experience across one or more of the following areas: engineering services, environmental consulting, remediation, infrastructure, design-build, construction management, industrial services, EHS, facilities compliance, manufacturing or public-sector markets.
The Opportunity:
As Director of Business Development, you will lead growth initiatives across multiple service lines, working closely with technical leaders, division heads and senior management to create targeted go-to-market strategies.
This role is focused on new relationships, new clients and new revenue opportunities, with a particular emphasis on:
Integrated Design-Build
Combining engineering design, construction delivery and project management to support infrastructure, development and industrial projects with earlier cost visibility and faster delivery timelines.
Environmental Remediation & Consortium Solutions
Partnering with utilities, chemical manufacturers and industrial clients to address complex environmental remediation and remedial action planning challenges through integrated subject matter expertise.
Asset Revitalization
Unlocking brownfields and stranded industrial assets by de-risking properties, supporting redevelopment strategy, aligning stakeholders and bringing creative financing and delivery models to complex opportunities.
Integrated Facilities & Compliance Solutions
Supporting manufacturers, defense-related facilities and industrial clients with EHS, wastewater treatment, energy efficiency, environmental compliance, permitting and facility engineering solutions that create measurable ROI.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead business development strategy across New England.
- Identify, qualify and pursue new client relationships and high-value opportunities.
- Drive growth across state and local government, industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, utilities, environmental and facilities markets.
- Develop targeted campaigns, pursuit strategies and market-specific growth plans.
- Build relationships with senior decision-makers, technical buyers, municipalities, developers, facility leaders and industrial clients.
- Generate, qualify and convert warm leads into active opportunities.
- Support RFP/RFQ strategy, proposal development and pursuit execution.
- Work closely with technical and project teams to align client needs with integrated service offerings.
- Track market dynamics, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
- Prepare growth reports, interpret market data and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Identify relevant trade shows, industry associations, networking channels and partnership opportunities.
- Collaborate with division heads and senior leadership to support long-term growth objectives.
- Help achieve annual new client and revenue growth targets.
Candidate Profile:
We are seeking a commercially driven business development leader with the ability to open doors, build trust and translate complex technical capabilities into compelling client value.
You should bring:
- Proven experience in business development, client development, strategic growth or sales leadership.
- Background in engineering, environmental, construction, infrastructure, industrial services, EHS, facilities, remediation or related technical services.
- Strong understanding of state/local government, industrial, manufacturing, utility, infrastructure or facility-based clients.
- Experience developing new markets, new relationships and new revenue opportunities.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with technical experts, project teams and senior leadership.
- Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- High energy, entrepreneurial mindset and a creative approach to growth.
- Strong attention to detail, follow-up discipline and pursuit management capability.
- Comfortable managing multiple opportunities, timelines and client priorities.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- BS/BA in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field preferred.
- Based in New England.
