Learning / Training & Development Manager (North West England)

As our global, professional services, client continues to expand, their investment in people is imperative to maintain their growth. They now require the services of an accomplished Learning and Development Manager / Training and Development Manager to identify, develop and implement training interventions and programs across the business. Whilst this is a newly created role, that will be part of the established HR team, training and development has been extensive and on-going, but this now needs a dedicated resource to review and oversee current solutions to help reshape and propose improvements and a more comprehensive approach to all areas of the organisation.
Based in the Northwest with some flexible working, the role will report to the Group HR Director. There will be some international travel.
Responsibilities
Day to day duties include the following.
  • Reviewing and mapping out existing training and development to identify and recommend improvement opportunities in accordance with best practice and changes requirements within the business. Working with the business stakeholders and HR leaders to design, implement and maintain an integrated approach to training and development and talent management.
  • Provide guidance as subject matter expert to HRBPs and other stakeholders to ensure Group-wide training and development interventions are suitable and targeted across all business units and geographical areas.
  • Working closely with line management, HRBP’s and the Talent Acquisition team to support talent development through career advancement, succession planning and the more effective use of the existing Development Framework.
  • Working closely with the Digital Learning Manager (E Learning and LMS) Develop and implement training and communication material to support the roll-out of new initiatives and stakeholder engagement.
  • Design and deliver training and development interventions on occasion as required whilst ensuring appropriate use and management of external training and development providers ensuring best value.
  • Review and redesign the current approach to on-boarding, probation, and the training of new employees into the business to improve effectiveness’
  • Support with any regional, or Group-wide, projects or initiatives in accordance with business objectives and best practices.


Person Specification
  • Prior experience in a mid to senior training and development role at a manager or Business Partner level. Experience in a sales-driven organization would be an advantage.
  • Able to demonstrate solid knowledge of management development and training theories and models.
  • CIPD qualified ideally at Level 7 or training equivalents equivalent.
  • Excellent presentation and delivery skills, coupled with the ability to resolve problems logically and systematically and make recommendations for potential courses of action.
  • Strong experience of managing and leading end-to-end large-scale projects and change programs.
  • Able to operate in a fast paced, complex organisation, whilst balancing competing priorities and adapting to changing requirements. Experience of working with multiple terms and conditions for different business units and / or entities would be advantageous.
  • Comfortable with working with stakeholders at all levels of seniority and managing multiple stakeholders to drive changes in ways of working and promoting a strategic approach.
  • Possesses a ‘can do’ attitude through hands-on delivery to achieve broader team goals.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, and able to tailor delivery style appropriately when explaining complex pay and reward issues to different audiences.
  • Self-motivated with ability to use own initiative and work stand-a-alone and works well with ambiguity and managing conflicting priorities.
  • Previous line management experience, supervising and coaching team members to perform effectively and develop within their roles.
  • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
